Supreme Court Friday September 17 Matrimonial and Divorce CAustraliaes Jurisdiction (Before the Full Court) Payne v Payne Petition for the dissolution of marriage. Mr. McFarland for the petitioner, Joseph Payne. No appearance for the respondent Elizabeth Payne, and co-respondents Henry Knott and Thos Freeman. The parties were married at Yea on 12 Jan 1867, and there was issue by the marriage. In July, 1870, Mrs. Payne said she would leave her husband, would not live with him any more, and would go to Melbourne. The husband, as she insisted on separation, consented to go away for two years, leaving her his house, which he said would be a home for herself and her children. He also [sic] her £16, and went to New South Wales. During his absence the cohabitation took place with Knott. The Court granted decree as prayed.
